Rachel and Jesse! This very young and adorable couple has quite the relationship! They also have a fantastic group of friends and family. Rachel recently graduated and her nursing degree has already taken them to their new home in West Fargo. Jesse has transfered and will be completing his college education there as well. In just a couple of weeks, life has take this couple on an incredible journey. I can't wait to see where they will be in a few years!
Rachel and her bridesmaids found their gorgeous gowns at Carrie Johnson Bridal. The guys looked fantastic in their attire, thanks to Tip Top Tux. Meet 3 year old Georgia. She was picked up while Alicia was road tripping through the State of, you guessed it, Georgia! She is a very loving and tolerant pup, not to mention an immense bed hog. She happens to love cuddling, going for car/boat rides, and chasing squirrels with her pal Garp. Georgia is our last contestant for the pretty pooches contest. I could not love baby Nolan more. He is the happiest 5 month old I have ever been around. Enjoy!
Charlie and Millie are quite a duo.
Millie is a 6 year old boston terrier who was rescued nearly 3 years ago from a rescue site. She has an incredible story of survival. Her favorite activities are walking and laying in the sun. Charlie, a 4 year old chocolate lab. He is a farm dog turned city dog who loves to sneak into the garden and eat all the veggies. He is very entertaining and LOVES to lick armpits (yes, it's true!). Together, they are a perfect balance of happiness. If you feel they are the winners of my Prettiest Pooches Contest, "like" their image on Facebook! Remember the pooch with the most "likes" will be crowned Tuesday September 4th! This time of year, I get about one wedding album every week or two. Each time, I carefully carry the box to a table and brush all the junk to the floor. I peel back the perfectly adhered packaging tape and take a deep breath. I am so calm as I start to flip open the 4 cardboard tabs until, the smell of leather escapes the box. My nostrils and brain fill with excitement and there it is.... My incredibly beautiful album. (Okay, not actually mine to keep, but for a moment it is all mine.) I quickly pluck it from the box and, just as the times before, I take snapshots.
I only recently realized I am still obnoxiously obsessed with each one. As if it is the first one I have ever seen - that is why I know these are amazing albums and my heart and soul has gone into the design! When I deliver them, I L.O.V.E. the anticipation of my client peeling back the first page and then watching their jaws drop. Moms instantly start crying, brides flip a page or two before that single tear hits the 3rd page. I can't seem to ever get the tissues quick enough. Then, I sit back and wait. When I hear the soft slap of the last page closing, and our eyes meet again, I know they are never going to be the same. This album represents a love story, a celebration, and new beginnings. My heart is so happy.
Lily is a 6 years old Bich-poo (half poodle half bichon). She was adopted from a family in Big Lake, MN. She loves car rides, napping, and playing with her ball! She is a happy pup, a great companion, a shadow, and very snuggly :)
If you feel that Lily deserves the title as Prettiest Pooch 2012, head back to Facebook and "like" her photo!
Garp is a 1 year old Pit bull mix. He was adopted from the MN Pit bull Rescue about 10 months ago. His favorite activities include; swimming, chasing squirrels, eating poop, and cuddling. He is a very goofy, loving, and enthusiastic friend. He keeps his owner on her toes with all of his attention seeking ways.
If you feel like he is worthy of the Prettiest Pooch title, head back to facebook and "like" his image!
Stella is a 3 year old Shitzu/Bishon. Her favorite activities include; going for walks, playing tug-o-war, and lounging by the patio. She is a very loyal, playful, and protective DIVA!
If you feel like she is worthy of the Prettiest Pooch title, head back to facebook and "like" her image! I have a mom friend, that I met when my daughter was in her first ECFE class! After a few times of talking, and working together, she contacted me to do a few creative angles of a final project she was working on. The theme was "Touch Me, Feel Me". She was excited and let me know she'd be submitting an image for competition. I had my fingers crossed for her, and waited to hear. After a few months, she told me the piece made the top 10 and would be featured in Flowers& magazine, I was so excited! You can find Carol's work on page 5, as contestant number 4. Anyone who purchases the magazine is eligible to vote. There is a little card to send in by August 24th, 2012. Hint, hint - go buy one! I am crossing my fingers for Carol - 1st prize is $1,000 cash! Second and third place - $500/$250. Anything would be fabulous for this incredibly awesome AIFD certified florist! The whole PDF file is too large to attach to this blog. If you are interested in seeing it, please contact me and I will send it to you! xo
Engagement photos are a great way to get to know your photographer and get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. You can use the photos as part of your guestbook, on save-the-dates or thank you cards, or on your wedding website. Check out some tips to taking great engagement photos:
Pick the right photographer: You’ll want to have the same photographer who is photographing your wedding shoot your engagement portraits. Ask to see examples of engagement photos your photographer has shot in the past to get a sense of his or her style. Look for a variety of locations and poses in your photographer’s portfolio – you want your engagement photos to suit your style, not someone else’s. And of course, make sure you get along with your photographer and feel comfortable around him or her. Pick the right location: Select a location that you and your partner are familiar with – instead of exploring new surroundings, you’ll be able to focus on each other and taking great photos. While beaches, parks, and gardens are popular engagement shoot locations, more everyday spots like coffee shops, city streets, even the stoop of your house can be meaningful and lovely backdrops. Pick the right outfit: Many couples immediately rush to purchase brand-new outfits for their engagement shoot. Our advice: Stick with something you already own. You’ll be more comfortable in an outfit you’re familiar with, and one that suits your style. Don’t go overboard with loud patterns and make sure that you and your partner wear colors that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy. Bring a few outfit options with you and let your photographer help you make the final decision. Pick the right day and time: Schedule your engagement session for a few months before your wedding, so you’ll have plenty of time to receive and edit your proofs and incorporate the photos into your wedding decor. As for the time of day, a good photographer can usually make any time look beautiful, but we’ve heard that early morning and dusk provide the most romantic light. Pick the right props (if you want): While you don’t have to bring props to your engagement session, if there’s something you think would help make your shoot more personal, by all means! It could be your dog, a picnic lunch, your favorite books, a board game you both enjoy – anything that fits your personality. But don’t overthink it – you don’t need props to take gorgeous engagement photos. Act natural: Easier said than done, we know. But try your best to forget the camera is there, and pretend that you’re enjoying a normal fun day out. If you’re not a fan of PDA you don’t have to go overboard, but don’t be afraid to hold hands, hug, or even share a kiss or two. Let your photographer take the lead, relax, and smile! xo! I am a strong believer in embracing your hometown. While, Robbinsdale is not my hometown, it is currently my children's. I am really excited about all the neat things this community has to offer and proudly announce that I am the newest member of this Chamber of Commerce. I am also very excited about our upcoming Meet and Greet, which will take place on Monday September 10th. Please take a look at the flyer and join us in celebrating a wonderful and growing community! xo As if I don't have enough to do..... This weekend I am hosting the first annual Pretty Pooches Event! I am in search of well-behaved pooches to participate in a complimentary project I am working on.
The event will take place on Sunday August 19th. Exact location and times will be emailed to the participants. Monday, August 20th, an image and profile of the pooch will be posted on my Facebook page. Viewers will be able to "Like" their favorites and one lucky owner will win a 4x4 leather album to brag with! This event is 100% free, and open to the public. If you are interested in learning more, please email me at emily@theisenphotography.com no later than THIS THURSDAY (August 16th). xo p.s. Don't forget to vote for your favorite! I love weddings, and I really love receiving the invitations! I ask each of my clients to send me their save the date or wedding invitation. Mostly, because I want to have the exact same details as their guests but I also have a secret obsession with handmade products! When I open my door, peek in my mailbox and see a 5x7 thick envelope, I start jumping around, literally! With an average of 25 weddings per year, my letter box is full of these beauties nearly once a week! Occasionally, I get one that sticks out as something really cute, unique or makes my jaw drop!
This week I was sent this cutie. A pink and black theme, full of hearts - just the way I like it. I couldn't help but snap a few angles and want to share it with all of you. The creation comes from Persnickity Designs. The owners, Jessica and Jennifer, love paper crafting and create everything with their four hands. The bride, who's invite is featured, tells me these girls are amazing to work with and she'd recommend them to anyone. xo Amaris is, by far, the most animated of my clients to-date. She has a bubbly personality that is truly unavoidable. I can't even begin to tell you how hard I giggled during our session. She is beautiful, sparkly, and so obviously in love with Daniel. They come together embracing their heritage and celebrate their union with Mexican American and Scandinavian traditions. I am so excited to share a few images from their engagement collection.
xo The three of us met just off the scenic drive in Duluth where we strolled around for their engagement session. I LOVED Jessica's dress, Matt's flashy kicks, and was thrilled that these two are so adorable and photogenic. Matt, who really reminds me of the "heros" actor Zachary Quinto is so sweet. Jessica, is beautiful, sassy and a joy to be with. I can see why they have fallen in love with each other.
I can't wait to share a few of their images! xo Here is a little perk for booking your fall sessions by August 25th, 2012.
